Those who suffer with social anxiety disorder carry a confusing burden of misperceptions. For them, being in public feels like a thousand eyes are upon them and that whispered conversations are about them. They feel judged in their every movement by palpable invisible forces. Living in such a sea of misperception, they may contort themselves to behave in a way they think is expected of them. Such exhausting effort greatly challenges their ability to fully experience the world around them. This can be a lonely path upon which it is difficult to hear the inner loving voice that guides each of us on our personal journey.
