The Bosque Mural - Part 2
So just how do you fund a project this big? Lead artist and project manager, Denise Weaver Ross, estimates that the nearly 1,800 square foot mural we're creating at Tortuga will cost approximately $10,000 in equipment, supplies, and labor, before donations from festival sponsors.
Lucky for us there's a tremendously energetic force behind Mural Fest. Curated by JP Eaglin and co-produced by Jay Sprang, founders of the Hub ABQ, Mural Fest has gathered a large sponsor base in town. Sponsors, ranging from individuals and businesses to the City of Albuquerque, show their support through in-kind and dollar donations. As a participating entry in Mural Fest 2018, the Bosque Mural is eligible to receive some supplies and equipment from this organization. However, with 40 artists and 11 locations participating, there's always the possibility of insufficient funds for food, water, and paintbrushes.
Add to that, the Tortuga Bosque Mural Team's mission to support rehabilitation efforts in the Rio Grande Bosque, and ... well, my mom usta say "expect the best, but prepare for the worst" so we're asking for a little extra help from our family, friends, and fans, to raise funds specifically for the Tortuga Bosque mural.
There's a variety of sponsorship and in-kind donation opportunities beginning with a raffle of the mural artists' work. The raffle starts at the July 6 exhibition and ends at the July 21 Artful Saturday event featuring art, food, and local music. In addition, check out our Go Fund Me campaign through which 15% of the money raised will go to Sierra Club’s Bosque Action Team. Make a donation of $50 or more and, as thanks, we'll send you an archival quality giclée of the mural flora or fauna of your choice.
This is only the beginning of the Bosque mural project and sponsorship opportunities will be available until the project closes in October. However, joining us early in the project ensures that you will receive all the promotional benefits of doing so.
